It’s all so quiet

So as we start our 5th week in confinement unable to operate our cafe and chambres d’hôtes I started getting nostalgic for the times past and the times to come. Spring has definitely sprung with glorious weather, the trees coming out into bloom and the flowers emerging from their winter sleep. We have been spending a lot of time outside in our garden whiling away the hours trying to dream up new recipes and menu ideas and practicing them ready for when our lovely guests will be able to return.

The sound of bird song is all around us and the trickling water from the lavoir behind our garden brings comfort in those times of stress and worry. We have taken the opportunity to paint our chambre d’hôtes windows inside and out bringing a new fresh feel to our property.

We have also upcycled and painted some of our furniture too which has lightened and brightened the feel downstairs. We put up the Easter decorations even if it was just for us this year and have celebrated our sons 10th birthday. The one family member who does not seem to mind the lockdown is Gigi our 3 year old boxer dog as she has been enjoying lots of outside time as well as walks (within our 1km allowed radius) and loads of attention from all of us.

Although there are many tasks to be done in and around the property of which we are gradually getting through the ones we can due to availability of materials, we have also spent a lot of time just being together as a family, talking more, playing games and lots and lots of video chats with friends. Having said that we look forward with impatience to the day when we can reopen our doors whether that be to welcome you here for a few days break, a lunch or coffee and a slice of delicious cake.

We have made a short video with a collection of photos from around our beautiful village to give you a kind of virtual tour of some of our beautiful streets, buildings and businesses including a look back on our wonderful market voted the most beautiful in Aquitaine back in 2017 which has sadly also closed for the time being. I will add a link to the video at the bottom of the page. We hope that you are all in good health and staying safe and well in these unprecedented times and we so look forward to seeing you all on the other side of this. Here is the little video to either remind you or introduce you to our wonderful village ....
